CM Punk vs Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins at Wrestlemania?? - Smackdown Recap and Results 21/03/25

Bologna, Italy was the latest host of Friday Night Smackdown as the road to Wrestlemania keeps heating up. Two new matches were confirmed for the show of shows as well as feuds being bolstered and all-around great wrestling.
Randy Orton challenges Kevin Owens to a match at Wrestlemania.

Randy Orton kicked off Friday Night Smackdown once again with the European crowd singing along to his theme song "Voices". But Kevin Owens cut him off before the "Viper" could even get a word in as he apologised for dropping Orton on his head over four months ago. Owens wanted to save Orton from going to his dark places and asked him to fight with him for Tag Team Gold at Wrestlemania. However, Orton didn't accept the apology and told Owens he's gone from "Fight Owens Fight to "B**ch Owens B**tch"! Randy Orton challenged Kevin Owens and let him know he was going to kick his head off his shoulders at Wrestlemania.
Damian Priest and Jimmy Uso defeated Drew McIntyre and Shinsuke Nakamura.

After Drew Mcintyre's vicious attack last week, "The Scottish Warrior" teamed up with Shinsuke Nakamura to take on the team of Damian Priest and Jimmy Uso. Priest cut Mcintyre's entrance short before the two and Nakamura got into a brawl on the outside. Jimmy Uso dove over the top rope and took out all of his competition.
Mcintyre took control of Uso with a wicked Belly-to-Belly Suplex as the crowd in Bologna chanted his name. The former United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura continued the onslaught with a kick that sprawled "Big Jim" on top of the announce table. Jimmy Uso gained some much-needed momentum, surprising Mcintyre with a Samoan Drop before getting the hot tag to Damian Priest, who ran riot over Nakamura.
"The King of Strong Style" attempted to hit the Kinshasa, but Priest countered with a huge lariat. Uso dived to the outside and took out McIntyre before Damian Priest connected with the South of Heaven to pin Nakamura. After the match, Drew Mcintyre jumped Priest and hit him with another Claymore, his obsession with taking him out has reached a breaking point.
Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair build to their Wrestlemania match.
A sitdown interview between WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton and Women's Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair was next as they heated up their match at the grandest stage of them all. Flair cut Stratton off immediately and told her she chose to face her because she felt sorry for Tiffany, Before calling their Mania match the pinnacle of her career. Stratton fired back at Flair, arguing she was her biggest supporter at the start of her career and the WWE universe doesn't bow down to the Queen anymore as they run on Tiffy Time.
Braun Strowman defeated Jacob Fatu by disqualification to become the Number One Contender for the United States Title.

With the added stipulation that the winner would be next in line for a United States Championship shot, "The Monster" Braun Strowman went to war with "The Samoan Wearwolf" Jacob Fatu. The two juggernauts went back and forth with big moves in the early stages, with stiff kicks and strikes to one another. Strowman tried to capitalise with his signature Strowman Express, but Fatu sidestepped him, sending "The Monster" over the announce table. Fatu followed this up with a dive to the outside taking out both men.
Strowman bounced back, throwing Fatu into the steel steps before conducting his own Italian Orchestra with the crowd. Both competitors continued to batter each other as Fatu floored Strowman with a clothesline, monster Samoan Drop and a Running Senton for a near fall. Strowman came back with multiple clotheslines and a retry of his Strowman Express, which sent Fatu crashing over the announce table.
Just when Strowman looked to get the win, Tama Tonga and Solo Sikoa caused the disqualification, costing Fatu a victory. Before more tension could build between Fatu and Sikoa, LA Knight ran down to the ring to help out Strowman. Both men cleared the ring as Braun Strowman was announced as the winner and the new Number One Contender to LA Knight's United States Championship.
Piper Niven defeated Zelina Vega

Zelina Vega's quest to become Women's United States Champion hit a roadblock when she faced off with Chelsea Green's head of security, Piper Niven. The size difference between the two favoured Niven at the start as she dragged Vega around the ring and hit her with consecutive shoulder tackles.
Vega fought back, tripping Niven on the ropes before connecting with multiple forearms to the chest of her opponent. But her attempts were faulted as she ran into a huge slam by Niven. Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre were menaces at ringside as they kept getting involved, trying to cost Vega as Niven remained in control.
Vega managed to ware Niven down as she countered a Miltary Press into a Rear Naked Choke before locking in an Octopus submission hold and then landing a huge knee strike for a near fall. A Satelight DDT got another near fall out of Piper Niven before Vega took out Green and Fyre, but just as she got back in the ring, Niven ran and hit a crushing Crossbody for the victory.
Liv Morgan defeated Jade Cargill

Jade Cargill and ona half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, Liv Morgan battled next as Morgan wanted revenge for being wrongly accused as Cargill's attacker. This was Jade's first match since August 9th after being put out of action by Naomi. She started off laser focused as she took Morgan out with a big boot before thowing her into the barricade. Morgan and Rodriguez tried to leave early but Cargill dragged her all the way back to the ring and powerbombed her for a near fall.
Morgan turned the tide on Cargill, even hitting the Three Amigos, paying tribute to the late great Eddie Guerrero. Cargill come back with clotheslines and two splashes in the corner, before a Spinebuster. An F-5 got a two count out of Morgan before Naomi appeared on the apron and distracted Jade. She clocked her with the title as Raquel Rodriguez distracted the referee and Liv Morgan hit Oblivion for the upset victory.
Naomi beat down Cargill after the match was over, stomping down on her chest before launching her onto the announce table.
The Street Profits had a Title Celebration
After defeating DIY last week in Barcelona, the new WWE Tag Team Champions, The Street Profits entered the ring to celebrate their victory. Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford were showered with praise from the crowd as they chanted "You deserve it" at them.
The two were interrupted by Los Garza and Santos Escobar who claimed their reign would end abruptly before Pretty Deadly came out. Elton Prince and Kit Wilson are the official Number One Contenders for the tag straps, as they told Legado to step aside. The Street Profits wanted the smoke and challenged Los Garza to a match.

Angel squared off with Angelo Dawkins to start things off with Dawkins unloading with bruising strikes in the corner. The teamwork of Angel and Berto completely changed the tempo with a double superkick landing on Ford as Los Garza controlled the match. The pace picked up when Dawkins got the hot tag as he unleashed on the Mexicans, but Escobar sent him over the ropes when the referee's back was turned, leading to Berto diving on him to keep the his team in control.
Los Garza had a sping in their step as they dominated Dawkins, even hitting a Garza Special which Ford needed to break up to keep his team in the match. Dawkins manged to escape his opponents clutches and tag in Montez Ford who the crowd were electric for, he took out Berto with a spinebuster for a near fall. Ford connected with a Superplex which got another near fall out of Berto before Dawkins dove onto all three members of Legado Del Fantasma. He threw Angel back in the ring for Ford to hit a Frog Splash and secure the win for the Champions.
Roman Reigns, CM Punk and Seth Rollins set up their Wrestlemania Triple Threat Match

"The OTC" Roman Reigns made his return to Smackdown after laying out both CM Punk and Seth Rollins on Monday Night Raw two weeks ago. Bologna acknowledged their "Tribal Cheif" as he explained his actions. Reigns shone light on how Punk screwed him at the Royal Rumble and Seth Rollins tried to kill him; But last week in Madison Square Garden, he gave them both receipts.
Seth Rollins answered Reigns as the crowd sung his theme song. Rollins told Reigns that he messed up as he doesn't understand how dangerous CM Punk is to the future of the company and he should of let Rollins finish Punk off. The story between Seth and Roman has a lot of pages and Rollins wanted to add another chapter to it. Just when things were getting intense, "Cult of Personality" blasted through the speakers and CM Punk made his grand entrance with the arena singing every lyric to the song.
Punk spat some facts and said neither Rollins or Reigns have ever beaten him without the other ones help. He told Roman he wouldn't of made it to the Royal Rumble if he didn't save his family at War Games. Punk jumped Reigns before Rollins got involved as all three men brawled. Multuple WWE officials got in the middle of all of them as Punk pointed to the Wrestlemana sign. Rollins dove to the outside and took out everyone before also pointing to the sign. Reigns hitt both men with the steel steps and completed the trifecta and pointed to the sign as Smackdown went off the air.
